to say "I understand" in Japanese.
You need to put the appropriate Japanese word in
the following order.
NOUN ga wakarimasu
NOUN が わかります。
*Objects connecting with trancitive verb are marked with the particle ga.
For example,
He understands Japanese.
かれは にほんご が わかります。
Kare wa nihongo ga wakarimasu.
